Announcement

We take the pleasure of introducing to you the Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences (IOMS) which has its Head Quarter at Kuwait. It is a non-governmental, non-profitable, charitable organization having no political overtures of any kind, keenly interested in promoting the health standards of the humankind through collaborative activities in Islamic countries as well as Muslim communities throughout the world, focusing on Medical Ethics, Heritage, Healthy Lifestyles and Herbal/Traditional Medicine. It was established in the year 1984 and since then myriad of activities have been conducted. For detailed information, you are requested to kindly visit our website http://www.islamset.com wherein you will get a complete picture of our objectives, activities, achievements, publications and projections.

The next on the agenda of the IOMS is to initiate and activate the Muslim countries to formulate the strategy to face the challenges of high cost of health services and acceptability and affordability of drugs anticipated due to the adoption of WTO and TRIPS agreements accepted by most of the countries throughout the world. These agreements will undoubtedly affect the progress of developing and least developing countries as well as the common people.

The IOMS deems it necessary to organize an international conference on "The Impact of Globalisation on Development and Health Care Services in Islamic Countries" in order to discuss the views of Experts, Scholars, Policymakers etc. to formulate the policies and to prepare for the challenge. The major issues of discussion will include the following:-

* Globalization and Human being in Developing Countries
* Globalization from an Islamic Perspective.
* Globalization from a Global Perspective.
* Islamic Countries: Studies and Expertise
* Globalization challenges to Islamic Countries.
* Repercussions of Globalization on Social Health Care and Proposed Alternatives.
* Ethical Aspects of Globalization.

The Conference will be held in Kuwait from 23 to 27 March 2002
