The
Holy Qur'an is at the center of Muslim life. Muslims recite
verses from it in their daily prayers and at important public and
private events. Many Muslims also memorize this holy scripture so
that they can keep it in their hearts. Before touching the holy
book, Muslims follow rituals for purification, including washing
and preparing the mind, body, and spirit. Care must be taken that
the Qur'an does not come into contact with any unclean substance,
and it is never to be laid upon the ground.
